It is no secret that general practice services up and down the country are experiencing a surge in appointment requests. Winter is definitely upon us.
Access to booked appointments is especially difficult at these times and whilst we do save appointments each day with your respective GPs for on-the-day requests – there never seems to be enough appointments.
So, what can you do?
From July 1st pharmacists will be able to see patients with minor winter illnesses. Te Whatu Ora has announced funding for the following targeted groups:
The pharmacist will be able to ‘prescribe' basic medications for minor illnesses and the whole visit will be funded.
